Nothing beats flowers for a simple preschool science lesson!  Read about how we explored flowers while incorporating some art and nature study.

Picture Books

Books About Spring And Changing Seasons

You'll be sure to find something you like in this list of Books About Spring And Changing Seasons.  We love all of these bright and cheerful books!

Printables

Boy, oh, boy, do I love the website 3 Dinosaurs.  Cassie makes awesome printables in a huge range of themes, with tons of activities for your kids to do.  You can print the whole thing if you'd like, but I prefer to pick and choose the pages that I know my girls will like and that cover skills that they need to work on.

Cutting Practice for Spring Theme- Weekly Homeschool Preschool

Maggie is learning how to use scissors right now, and while she is most excellent at cutting teeny tiny scraps of confetti (and leaving them all over my living room), she's still working on cutting on a line.  These cutting practice pages from the Spring Printable Pack were great practice!

Spring Coloring

Lena has gotten really into coloring lately.  It took a while, but now she'll stay focused and hard at work for up to half an hour.  It's always a great quiet time activity.  One of my favorite places to go for coloring pages is the Just Color page at 1+1+1=1.  For our spring week, Lena and I used the spring pack and enjoyed some early morning coloring one day while Maggie slept in.

Simple Spring Necklaces

Lena and Maggie loved making these Simple Spring Necklaces.  Stringing the beads is excellent fine motor work, and we explored patterns as well.

Spring Flower Craft

For a simple and easy craft this week, the girls made these cute doily flowers.  This craft would be perfect to do in a preschool classroom or group setting, since the materials are simple and the results are impressive!

Sweet Springtime Cinnamon Chips

We made a yummy spring snack this week, and both of my girls gobbled them up.  Making anything in to a cutesy shape is just plain fun, right?

Field Trip

Get outside!  Dig in the dirt!  Ride bikes!  Draw with chalk!  Blow bubbles!  A spring field trip doesn't need to be fancy.  It just needs to be outdoors, enjoying the weather, and exploring all the changes that spring brings.

Flower Math

This simple math activity was lots of fun for spring week.  We used some coffee filter flowers that we'd made, a small glass dish, and black beans (from one of our sensory bins).  Then I grabbed some basic number cards.

For Maggie, I just placed a number card on the floor and asked her to plant that number of flowers in the garden (beans).  This helped her work on numeral recognition and counting.

I used the same materials to work with Lena on basic addition and subtraction.  I set out a problem and she planted the flowers to solve them.  Then she found the correct number card and completed the equation.

Spring Sensory Bin

The girls have loved playing with this Spring Sensory Bin.  A quick trip to Target or a craft store and you'll have all you need.
