Invitation To Create- Under The Sea. Great fine motor ocean craft for preschool, kindergarten, or elementary kids. Open-ended project allows for creativity- kids can make fish, octopus, or other sea creatures!

It's been a while since I've set up a paper Invitation To Create for my girls.  We did so many of them a while ago that they weren't as excited about them any more.  But I couldn't let this Under The Sea idea go, so I set it up for them on a recent afternoon.  They saw me cutting paper shapes and got so excited!  I guess they just needed a break!  With summer approaching, this ocean themed process art craft is great for preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary kids.  It's fun, allows for fantastic creativity, and provides loads of fine motor work.  Here's how to set it up!

We like to use a divided tray, but it is certainly not necessary.  Ours were from Target, and are no longer available, but these look similar and would do the trick.  Beyond that, all you need is construction paper, scissors, googly eyes, and a glue stick.

In a variety of colors, cut ovals and circles to be bodies.  Next cut triangles in different sizes and shapes-- these will be fins.  Finally, add lots of little bits- tiny circles, strips, squares, and other shapes.  Your kids can use these for stripes, eyes, or any other decoration.  Just make sure you have lots of different shapes in lots of different colors.  Put your construction paper pieces into the divided tray, along with googly eyes and a glue stick.  The last thing you need is larger rectangles to be the backgrounds.

Let Your Child Make Sea Creatures

Set out the tray and background papers and invite your children to the table!  I always tell my girls the general theme of what they might be able to make with their shapes, but ultimately they get to choose!
